London, Richard Bentley, 1840-1847. Material original published in Bentley's Miscellany, collected in book form in three volumes (1840- 1847). Barham's collection of humorous and sometimes macabre stories is illustrated in the edition by three of the most accomplished caricaturists of the Victorian era.
